This movie tells the story of the Austrian Leopold Weiss, also known as Asad. It starts in the borderlands of the former Danube Monarchy before shifting to Israel, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and finally New York. It portrays a very complex image of Islam.

Beginning in September 2010 and continuing until February 2011, the Filmmuseum will feature a series of 20 films from various genres which will take their audiences into the most remote regions of the Islamic world. The films to be shown couldn’t be more diverse and together form a cinematic kaleidoscope that addresses ongoing political tensions and themes such as modernisation, globalisation, violence and perceived departures from tradition, the power of reason, and life and poetry in our contemporary global world.
